Komlo Preserve, New Fairfield

130 CT-37, New Fairfield, CT 06812

26 acres

Komlo Preserve is an idyllic setting of wildlife habitats, including open meadows, forested wetlands, and a human-made pond, all situated right in the center of New Fairfield. Joseph Komlo donated this property as accessible natural land for the Dunham Pond Condominiums. The pond, created when gravel was mined for the construction of Route 37, is home to a diverse array of wildlife. Beavers, ducks, and geese all rely on this habitat. There is also a sizable heronry at the edge of the forest. This property is the southern end of the Shortwoods Brook Aquifer. A 0.5-mile trail runs from the parking lot and dead-ends at a stream where wooden benches are located.

Parking is available in the dedicated parking area located at the bottom of the driveway of the medical building.
