Housatonic Heritage Hike
September 29, 2018 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am
On Saturday, September 29 please join Weantinoge, Kent Land Trust (KLT), and guest naturalist and educator Nora Hulton for a guided hike through Weantinoge’s Cobble Brook Vista and KLT’s Kent Mountain Preserve. The trail will bring you through different habitats including meadows, streams, upland forest, and ridge line. Along the hike you’ll discover charcoal mounds from the iron industry and scenic views of the Housatonic River Valley. Nora will help us identify wildflowers, wildlife, and discuss the natural history of the area. The trail that connects these two properties is about 2.5 miles long and passes over steep and rocky terrain that would be considered challenging to the experienced hiker.
This hike is presented as part of the Housatonic Heritage walk series, now in its 17th year. This series includes dozens of events that focus on the rich natural and cultural history of Berkshire County, MA and Litchfield County, CT. Click here for a full listing of all 63 hikes.
