Become a Steward of Nature

At Northwest Connecticut Land Conservancy (NCLC), we believe that every individual has the power to make a lasting impact on the landscapes we cherish. Whether you are drawn to the tranquility of our forests, the beauty of our meadows, or the vitality of our trails, your involvement helps protect 14,200 acres across Litchfield and northern Fairfield Counties.

Why Volunteer with NCLC?

Volunteering with NCLC offers more than just an opportunity to give back—it is a chance to connect with nature, meet like-minded community members, and contribute to the conservation of our region’s natural heritage. From hands-on trail maintenance to assisting at community events, your help is vital to our mission of safeguarding these special places for generations to come.

How You Can Help

There are many ways to get involved:

  • Volunteer Trail Crew Days: Join us on select Fridays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. to maintain and enhance trails at our public nature preserves. See below for the current schedule.
  • Office & Event Support: Assist with administrative tasks or help at tabling events to raise awareness about our conservation efforts.
  • Stewardship Projects: Participate in activities (like bird box repairing or being a volunteer trail steward) that support the health and sustainability of our conserved lands.
