860-927-1927 ext. 1505
Monica Roberto joined Northwest Connecticut Land Conservancy in 2026 as director of philanthropy. She connects people who care about the land to meaningful opportunities to protect it—bringing neighbors and partners together to ensure wildlife thrives, forests and waters are protected, farms flourish, and people benefit from clean air, resilient landscapes, and meaningful access to nature.
Monica brings more than 15 years of nonprofit leadership experience, including five years in land conservation. Before joining NCLC, she served as Director of Development at Steep Rock Association in Washington, Connecticut. There, she worked closely with donors to deepen engagement and inspire greater investment in core mission work, long-term conservation initiatives, and legacy giving.
Earlier in her career, Monica held development leadership roles in human services organizations, where she built fundraising programs and expanded community support through events, grants, corporate impact partnerships, and outreach. She also spent 15 years in marketing leadership at a start-up in the private sector, developing the entrepreneurial and analytical skills that continue to shape her approach to building engagement.
Monica is a graduate of the University of Connecticut, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and is also a certified Major Gift professional through Veritus Group. She lives in Woodbury with her partner, Stephen, and spends as much time as she can outdoors—exploring local trails, cycling, tending to their land in Warren, and embracing new adventures along the way.
