Connecticut Trails Day: Hike to Bear Hill’s Summit

June 1, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

The first weekend in June is Connecticut Trails Day, part of a nationally coordinated day celebrating all muscle-powered trail activities! Connecticut, though small in size, has the most National Trail Day events in the United States.

Join Weantinoge on a hike to the highest point in New Milford, Bear Hill. At the end of 2018, New Milford resident Jack Garraty donated a 50-acre conservation easement to Weantinoge, completing the protection of the entire north and east sides of Bear Hill, the highest and most prominent landmark in New Milford. This incredible donation, in addition to protecting natural habitat, will also permit a hiking trail to ensure public access to Bear Hill’s 1,270 foot summit. Jack’s generous donation safeguards a New Milford landmark for future generations to enjoy. Join us on this hike to the summit that celebrates this legacy of conservation!

Brought to you with the generous support of our members and Ellen Knowles Harcourt Foundation.
